Antoinette Kellermann

Antoinette Kellermann (1952-) is a bilingual Afrikaans and English actress and lecturer.

Also credited as Antoinette Kellerman.

Biography

She was born in 1952 in Bellville.

Training

Antoinette studied at the University of Stellenbosch Drama Department.

Career

She worked for CAPAB, SWAPAC and PACT, as well as a variety of other companies. Since the demise of CAPAB, she has worked closely with Marthinus Basson and the Vleis, Rys en Aartappels company. She became a teacher for Pretoria Technikon's Cape branch in 200*, and in 2002 joined the staff of the University of Stellenbosch Drama Department as speech and acting teacher.

1980s: "Merteuil" in Quartet (1988), "Lucienne" in Hond se Gedagte "Adriana" in Kinkels innie Kabel, "Helena Alving" in Ibsen's Spoke "Madame de Montrieul" in Madame de Sade "Anna" in Pieter Fourie's Ek, Anna van Wyk, Anatomie Titus, the Fall of Rome, Quartet, King Lear and Macbeth (the latter three works by Heiner Müller), Huis Vol UIle 1989.

1990s: Jan en die Boontjierank (PACT, 1991), Tartuffe (Nico Malan Theatre, 1991*), Bartho Smit’s Die Keiser (circa 1992), As die Kat Weg is (1992), Is die Muis Baas? (1994), Faustus in Africa (2001), Oscar in Afrika (Aardklop festival, 1999), Ek, Anna van Wyk (twice - 1999/2008),

She won the Computicket Award for her performance in Die Tragedie van Cymbeline in 1993.

In 2008 the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns awarded her their Erepenning vir Toneel- en Verhoogkuns ("honorary pennant for theatre and stage art") and the Gerhard Beukes Prys ("prize") for her lifelong contribution to theatre.
