The Waterfront Theatre School [1] is a school for performing arts situated in the restored historic Mission to Seaman building within the prestigious Waterfront district in Cape Town.

History

Keith Galloway and Delia Sainsbury established a part- and full-time College in the Carlton Centre, Johannesburg, under the name of Dance Workshop, in 1978. The College expanded and moved to Rosebank in 1986 and relocated to Cape Town in 1992 under the new name of The Waterfront Theatre School

Training

The school specialises in acting, musical theatre, and multiple dance genres, and provides access to international qualifications accredited by Trinity Guildhall and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, London. The Waterfront Theatre School offers a range of international qualifications registered by OFQUAL ranging from an NQF level 4 to an NQF level 6 within the international qualifications framework and self-regulated qualifications.

Part-time study

The Waterfront Theatre School offers a specifically designed Part Time programme for young people aged 5 to 18, accommodating learners with both recreational and vocational interests and facilitates accreditation by Trinity College London and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. The junior courses offer opportunities to grow in all aspects of the performing arts.

  • Accommodation for up to 28 students on campus in self-catering residences.

The Galloway Theatre

An 80-seater, multi-configuration theatre, situated in the former Mission to Seaman chapel (c. 1901).
