She studied at the University of Cape Town.


Career

She joined PACT in 1973.

Leonie was one of a core company of actors when Barney Simon and Mannie Manim founded The Company in 1974.

She eventually became a marine biologist.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

She performed in Children of the Wolf, Story Theatre, An Enquiry, Subject to Fits, The Crucible, The Adventures of Merry Madcap, Boogie Woogie Bubble 'n Squeak, , The Grand Ceremonial, The Best of Adam, Play it again, Sam, Simple Bloody Simon, Glass House (at the Space Theatre), On Broadway, The Fantasticks, Bar and Ger, The Voyage of the Santiago as "Maria Ramos", PACT 1974.

She starred in the title role in the PACT Arena Theatre opening production of Ken Leach’s production of The Duchess of Malfi with Bill Flynn in 1975.

She performed in Marat/Sade, the official opening production of the Market Theatre in 1976.

She starred in The Me Nobody Knows, for The Company at the Market Theatre in 1977 and in Grease at His Majesty's Theatre in the same year.
