Training
He studied at the University of Cape Town before his training at the Central School of Drama in London 1946-8. While in London he appeared in a number of plays at the New Theatre, including The Taming of the Shrew 1947 – 1948; Richard II 1947 – 1948; King Lear (bit part for the Old Vic Co.) 24th September 1946 –1947 and Cyrano de Bergerac 1946 – 1947.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and performance
He worked for the National Theatre Organisation in the 1950s, and later for CAPAB and The Space (in the 1970s).
As actor
As a student he acted in They Came to a City (1944), The House in Fern Road (1944), The Merry Wives of Windsor, (1945) and Othello (1946).
