Dawid Minnaar (1956-) is a bilingual (Afrikaans/English) actor for stage, radio, TV and film.

Biography

Born in Upington in the Northern Cape, the youngest of 5 children, and grew up on the family farm Rooidam, Namibia and went to primary school in Bethanie.

He completed a B.A at the University of Stellenbosch, Department of Drama, and a B.A. Honours degree in Drama at the University of Cape Town.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Primarily known as a fine and versatile actor, his stage career started in the 1980s and by the 1990s he was one of the leading bilingual performers in the country.

(CAPAB, 1983); Razumov, Diepe Grond (Market Theatre and Baxter Theatre, 1985 and 1986); Not About Heroes, (Volute Productions at the Baxter Theatre and Upstairs at the Market, 1986); Whale Nation (The Black Sun and the Whale Well, 1989); Flight (Market Theatre, 1989) Nag, Generaal (Market Theatre, 1989); Speed-the-Plow (Upstairs at the Market, 1990); Faustus in Africa (Market Theatre and Grahamstown Festival 1995), Ubu and the Truth Commission (Grahamstown Festival 1997, Tango del Fuego (2001), international tour 2014); Boklied (KKNK, 1999?*); Boetman is die bliksem in!
