Jenny Gratus

Jenny Gratus (19**-) is an actress. (Also found as Jennie Gratus).

She acted in The Critic (1954). Starred in Christopher Fry’s The Lady's not for Burning which was presented by the Arena Theatre Company and staged at the Johannesburg YMCA in 1956, also starring Robert Lang and Will Jamieson. She starred in The Company of Three’s production of the hard-hitting American drama, A Hatful of Rain, which was directed by Stuart Brown and staged at the Library Theatre in 1957. Also starring Ivan Berold and Marjorie Gordon. A Moon for the Misbegotten (NTO, 1960) She played the lead in Kushlick-Gluckman’s revival of Clare Boothe’s The Women at the Intimate Theatre in 1961. Anthony Farmer designed and Shirley Firth, Valerie Miller and Diane Wilson also played leads. She starred in Trap for a Lonely Man which James Gillhouley directed for the the Johannesburg Reps at the Alexander Theatre in 1966. She married Boris Cohen. She starred in the Johannesburg Reps production of Seidman and Son together with David Kossoff and Simon Kossoff at the Alexander Theatre in 1967. In 1974 she acted in Whites, a short film directed by Terence Hammond and also featuring Bill Flynn and Japhta Mphokana.

(19*-) Actress. *** Roles in ***, Kushlick-Gluckman’s revival of Clare Boothe’s The Women at the Intimate Theatre (1961).She starred in Noël Coward’s Present Laughter, directed by Charles Hickman as the final production for Johannesburg Reps in 1969. It was staged at the Alexander Theatre and also starred Bernard Brown, Margaret Inglis and Gordon Mulholland * (Tucker, 1997)
