FOX, Grethe. [ Grethe-Maria] (195*-) Actress, director and producer for stage, film and TV. Trained at UCT?***. Worked at The Space in the 1970s acting (for a while as Grethe-Maria Fox) in Dance Is, Fallen Angels, Karnaval (Pieter-Dirk Uys, 1975), Occupations, Revenge, Theatre of Silence, Slag and Wooed and Viewed. She also directed Line / It’s called the Sugar Plum as Grethe Fox, with Charlotte du Toit. She then moved on to ***. Among her performances ** and **. Producer of Die Goue Seun, the hugely successful play about her uncle, Uys Krige. Daughter of well-known architect, Revel Fox, At one time married to the film maker Manie van Rensburg.
FOX, Grethe. She starred in Barney Simon’s production of an Afrikaans translation of The Women of Troy together with Aletta Bezuidenhout, Jana Cilliers, Sandra Prinsloo and Wilna Snyman at the Market Theatre in 1977. Together with Richard Haines she starred in Sweeney Todd, adapted and directed by Robert Whitehead which was staged at Upstairs at the Market in August 1983. She starred in Ibsen’s A Doll's House at Upstairs at the Market in 1990. (Tucker, 1997)
