Romeo en Julia (studie van een verdrinkend lichaam) ("Romeo and Julia - Study of a Drowning Body") is a play by Peter Verhelst[], based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

The text

A dark and violent reinterpretation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, undertaken for Het Zuidelijk Toneel by Peter Verhelst and first performed by them in 1998.

Translations and adaptations

The Flemish text was translated into Afrikaans by Marthinus Basson as Romeo en Julia (Studie van 'n Verdrinkende Liggaam). (Also found as Romeo en Julia or Romeo + Julia)
