Born in Stellenbosch, she studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch, completing a B.Dram degree. She was married to Francois Toerien for a while.

Nicole primarily performs in the Western Cape and at Festivals, she is a popular and versatile performer often used by directors such as Marthinus Basson and Juanita Swanepoel.
She has co-created and performed in a number of two handers with Francois Toerien.
Prominent performances include roles in Outopsie, Maria de Buenos Aires, The Seagull, Die Sewe Doodsondes, Tango del Fuego, Somerdag met 'n Dooie Digter (1998), Yerma, Rekmerke: Grepe uit 'n Swangerskap, Spyt, Die Rolbalspeler, Plague of Innocence, Prometheus, Klaasvakie, Die kortstondige raklewe van Anastasia W., Jan en Jorie, Oorsee, The Sweeney Todd Shock 'n' Roll Show, Moeder Moed en Haar Kinders, Roadkill/Padkos, Ipekonders, Altyd Jonker, Die Renosters, Saad, Diensmeisies by Genet and translated into Afrikaans by Wim Vorster in 2008 at the KKNK.
She was in 3 Susters at the Inniebos Festival 2018 with Margit Meyer-Rödenbeck and Lizz Meiring. Also in Swerfgoed at the KKNK in 2018.
