Sy Kom met die Sekelmaan is a play based on the novel by Hettie Smit

The original text
The semi-autobiographical novel, written in diary and letter format, it was based on the correspondence between Smit and the critic, author and poet WEG Louw.
The novel was originally published in 1937 by the Vereniging vir die Vrye Boek in Cape Town and was often reprinted afterwards.
Translations and adaptations
Besides being read on radio on a number of occasions, the novel has also been adapted for the stage as a one-hander, made up of excerpts from the novel.
Performance history in South Africa
1972: A stage version of the novel, performed by Katinka Heyns and directed by Truida Louw, was done in the Arena Theatre, Johannesburg, by the PACT company, as part of a double bill (with Kamer 99 by Dolf van Niekerk). Sound by George Ballot and stage management by Max Curtis.
2001 The stage version performed by Nicole Holm, directed by Juanita Swanepoel.
