The original text
In Afrikaans the term aantrekkingskrag has a double meaning, being used to refer both to people ("the power of attraction") and to the gravitational pull of the earth. Opperman's play uses the term metaphorically to refer to the cosmic law in its exploration of life, science, literature, belief and - ultimately - love.
Originally written as a stage play and first performed at Aardklop in 2011.
The text was published by Protea Boekhuis in 2013.

2011: First performed at the Aardklop by Packed House Productions, directed by Deon Opperman with André Odendaal, Johan Scholtz, Hanli Rolfes, Franci Swanepoel and Elné Pretorius Set design by Deon Opperman.
Translations and adaptations
Adapted and directed as a radio drama by Evert Snyman for RSG, with Riana Wilkens, Lochner de Kock, Richard van der Westhuizen and Bettie Kemp. Broadcast on 18 June, 2015[1]
Adapted and filmed as a TV movie by Deon Opperman Produksies, with a script by Deon Opperman, directed by André Velts with Johan Scholtz, Franci Swanepoel, Gustav Gerdener, Nastassja Pretorius and Juanita de Villiers. Cinematography is by Marius de Nysschen, film editing by Regardt Botha, production design by Christian Joubert and costume design by Madelaine Lötter. Released on 3 March 2019.
