Biography

Youth

Training

He studied at the University of Stellenbosch until 1965.

Career

He has had several position at SABC Afrikaans television service, among them senior drama producer.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

As a student he appeared in Die Jakkalsstreke van Scapino (UTS 1963), Op Hoop van Seën (UTS 1964), Antigone (by Jean Anouilh) (UTS 1965), Drie Dae Meester (UTS 1965) and Marionet aan die Muur (1965).

As professional actor he had roles in Die Dansende Donkie (PACOFS 1966), Don Carlos (PACOFS 1966), Jack and the Turtle Doves (PACT Children’s Theatre 1968), Professor Poffel en Professor Moffel (1968 and 1973), Afrikaners is Plesierig (PACOFS 1971), Kanna hy kô Hystoe (PACOFS 1971), Die Rebellie van Lafras Verwey (PACOFS 1972), Olympia en Haar Vryers (PACOFS 1972), Hond se Gedagte (1973).

In 1999 he played in Waar die Reënboog Val (KKNK).

He wrote and performed in Die Gevangene, Aardklop 1998.

Role in the television series Willem (1976).

He has served as adjudicator for several competitions.

Henk directed and designed the first production of Putsonderwater for PACOFS in 1969.

He directed the television series Net ‘n Bietjie Liefde (1977), the SABC film De La Rey (1980), the film Nommer asseblief? – die Rolprent in 1982 and the television series Geknelde Land, also in 1982.
