Elaine Aucamp (19**-) Artist, enormously talented costume designer and lecturer.

Training

Obtained a B.A (FA) from Michaelis School of Arts, University of Cape Town.

Career

She joined her husband, Emile Aucamp, at the Stellenbosch University Drama Department in 1966, to later become Wardrobe mistress and lecturer in Costume, first on part-time basis and later full time. Over the years she costumed hundreds of student productions, designing, making and/or altering all the costumes with the help of her students. Also did a great deal of professional work over the years. She retired in 1998.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Macbeth, Caesar, Dokter teen Wil en Dank, Die Mal Vrou van Chaillot, Lusistrata, Moeder Hanna, Periandros van Korinthe, Met Permissie Gesê, Voëlvry, Die Vlindervanger, Die Wintersprokie are only some of the numerous productions for which she designed either costumes or decor or both.
