East London Technical College Drama Club was an amateur dramatic society in East London (circa 1946 - 1962).

Founding, function and history

The East London Technical College Drama Club was established at the East London Technical College circa 1946 by Mary Howe. The club was involved in providing local theatre entertainment in the city. The Drama Club performed straight plays, plays by Shakespeare, and presented dance shows.

In the early 1950's, they were joined by the Dramatic Society of East London, East London Schools Music and Drama Association, the Music and Variety Club and The Children’s Theatre to raise funds toward the building of what was to be the Guild Theatre.

The East London Technical College Drama Club amalgamated with the East London Music and Variety Club on 29 June 1962 under a new name, the Arts Theatre Club.
