Hannes Muller (19*-) Actor.

He was a member of the Johan Fourie-toneelgeselskap, for whom he acted in Kom Ons Gaan Blomme Pluk... in 1944 and in Verlore Siele. He performed in Liefde in Satyn for the André Rousseau Theatre Company in 1947.

Hannes Muller (1961-). Actor, director

Biography

Born in the Free State in 1961, he matriculated in 1978 from Sasolburg High School. He joined the SADF in 1979 and was commissioned as an officer.

After his national service he enrolled in Potchefstroom University for a Drama degree. After a post grad diploma at the end of 1984 he made his professional debut at the then SWAPAC arts council in Windhoek.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

In 1984 he acted in student productions of Guernica (NAF) and Ek, Anna van Wyk (Kampustoneel). Directed and starred in Die Verdoemde se Fiets 1984.

As professional actor he acted in Ek, Anna van Wyk (PACOFS 1986), Môre is 'n Lang Dag (SUKOVS 1986), Somewhere on the Border (1987), Tienuur Maak Die Deure Oop (1987), Die Buite-Egtelike Ouma (1988), Die Proponentjie (1988), Die Salem-Verhoor (1988), The Balcony (1988), Vat Hom, Flaffie! (1989), Man in die Blou Maan (1989), Run for Your Wife (1990), Kringe in 'n Bos (TRUK 1991), Drie Susters (1992), Die Aand van die Fynproewer (1992), Die Waterwyser (1992), Moleste met die Magistraat (1993), Sneeuwitjie en die Sewe Dwergies by Nerina Ferreira (1993), Die Eend (1993), By Fakkellig (1993), Don Gxubane Onner die Boere (1994), Is die Muis Baas? He played in two productions of Ubu Roi in Afrikaans; once in 1983 in a student production and in 1991 in a PACT production directed by Dieter Reible.

In 1992 he acted in a PACT production of Bartho Smit’s Die Keiser' and in 1998 he directed another PACT production of the play.

He performed in the pantomime The Sleeping Beauty for PACT in 1990 and directed another PACT production, assisted by Lizz Meiring (date unknown).

He performed in Groet die Grotman numerous times since 2005.

He co-wrote the pantomimes Die Spook van Donkergat and Brolloks en Bittergal with Lizz Meiring; co-wrote and directed the musical Antjie Somers (2000).

Directed Brakanjan (1996), Om 'n Slang te Vang (1997), Die Keiser in 1998, Droom (1998).

He appeared in Meester, The TV series (1992) and in the feature film Stander.

Awards, etc.

Nominated for a Vita Award (Transvaal and National, award year 1992) as supporting actor of the year for his role in Die Keiser.

Winner of Fleur du Cap Award for Best Contribution to a Musical or Revue for his direction of Antjie Somers, award year 2001.
