Paul Buckby (born circa 1965), actor on stage and television, singer, songwriter.


Biography

Paul was born in Nottingham, England and settled in South Africa as a child in 1968.


Training

Career

Started his career as actor in 1983 after leaving school in Cape Town. He was with the Just Us Company for a period.


Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

His debut was in The Diary of Iris Vaughan at the Baxter Theatre. That was followed by The King and I, Fiddler on the Roof and The Taming of the Shrew for CAPAB. He played the disciple John in Peter Krummeck's The Passion. Appeared in The Man Most Likely To in the Baxter Theatre and in Summer Holiday (as Mike, 1998).

Other productions include Equus, Murder at the Vicarage, Sarcophagus.

Plays Eddie Holmes in the TV series Isidingo (2000s). He also had a role in the television series The Syndicate.

Paul is one of those behind the Foxwood Theatre initiative.
