A tragedy by Vladimir Gubaryev that dramatizes the plight of radiation victims from the Chernobyl disaster in Russia. Published by Vintage Books, and by Penguin Books in the series Penguin Plays and Screenplays, 1987.

Translated into English from the Russian by Michael Glenny.

Performance history in South Africa

1988: Presented by Pieter Toerien in 1988, directed by Terrence Shank. The cast included Jeremy Crutchley, Gillian Garlick, Ian Steadman, Margaret Heale, Ted le Plat, John Whiteley, David Butler and a large company. There were performances in the André Huguenet Theatre, Baxter Theatre and at the Grahamstown Festival.

1989: The Pieter Toerien production at the Theatre on the Bay in April 1989 was directed by John Whiteley. The cast: Jeremy Crutchley, Gillian Garlick, Ingrid Emsley, John Whiteley, Chris Buchanan, Don McGuire, Paddy Canavan, John Dennison, Leonard Moss, David Muller, Keith Dickenson, Paul Buckby, Bill Jervis, Colin Duell. Lighting was by Jannie Swanepoel, set design by Kay Page and costumes by Alison Yates.
