The Lady's not for Burning
by Christopher Fry. A popular verse play about Joan of Arc. Premiered at an Arts Theatre private club in London in 1949 starring Alec Clunes, who had also commissioned it. Later that year John Gielgud took the play on a provincial tour followed by a successful London run at the Globe Theatre.

1951: First staged in South Africa by the University Players, starring Philip Birkenshaw, Molly Seftel and Margaret Inglis.
