Ronald France (19**-). Actor on stage, screen and radio.

Biography

Ronald is from England but he settled in Cape Town.

Training

Career

He has worked for most of the leading theatre managements since the mid 1960s.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

In January 1969 he appeared as Doctor Caius in The Merry Wives of Windsor at Maynardville.

Worked at The Space in the 1970s, acting in Ruffian on the Stair, 'Tis a Pity She's a Whore and What the Butler Saw.

Performed as “Ragna” in Hadrian VII (CAPAB), as “Doctor Calfucci” in Mandrake (CAPAB), in Habeas Corpus (a one man show), A Collier's Friday Night (CAPAB, 1974), Lorenzo and Friends, Norm and Ahmed (as “Norm”), A Delicate Balance (as “Harry”), Sweet Bird of Youth (CAPAB as “Boss Finley”), Death of a Salesman (as “Charlie”), Not For The Deserving (1976) and in The Relapse (as “Clumsy”).

He was seen as Vincentio in The Taming of the Shrew (CAPAB), Mark Meddle in London Assurance (CAPAB 1984), and in Diamonds! Diamonds!, Macbeth, Cold Stone Jug, The Real Inspector Hound, in a production in English of 'n Seder val in Waterkloof, Death of a Salesman, A Delicate Balance, Dear Antoine, Sweet Bird of Youth, The Relapse, Kaspar, Hail Wedded Love, Glengarry Glen Ross, Biography, Confusions, Amadeus (NAPAC), Steve Biko: The Inquest, The Comedy of Errors (Maynardville) and other plays.

Film roles include King and Country, Sanna, Richard Gush, Children's Island, The Sheltering Desert (1991) and television appearances include Heroes..
