Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Mvinjelwa has sung major roles in operas such as La Bohème Noir (1997), Fidelio (2004), Rigoletto, Nabucco, Tosca, Macbeth (2007) and Faust.
Mvinjelwa is also an advocate of new and local opera and has sung a number of roles in contemporary opera such as:
- Enoch in Roelof Temmingh’s opera Enoch, Prophet of God (1995)
- Sacred Bones (1997)
- Buchuland (1998)
- Love and Green Onions (2001)
- King Dinuzulu in Princess Magogo kaDinuzulu by Mzilikazi Khumalo (2002)
- the story teller in Masque (2005)
- Mpande in Ziyankomo and the Forbidden Fruit (2012)
Awards
He was a recipient of the Standard Bank Young Artist Awards in 2001.
