Story and screenplay by Betty Comden and Aldolph Green, adapted for the stage with a book by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, lyrics by Arthur Freed, and music by Nacio Herb Brown.
The original West End production, directed by Tommy Steele and choreographed by Peter Gennaro, opened at the London Palladium on June 30, 1983. The first American production opened on Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre on July 2, 1985, directed and choreographed by Twyla Tharp.

2015-6: Pieter Toerien Productions presented the international touring production of the musical, in association with Lunchbox Theatrical Productions[2], at Artscape (2015/6) and the Teatro at Montecasino (2016).
