How Now Brown Cow is a theatre production company.

The company

Founded by Julie-Anne McDowell during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, with Daniel Galloway as General Manager and Producer alongside Julie-Anne.

Based in South Africa, it is committed to presenting a range of world-class productions which particularly aims to commission, enable and empower South African theatre practitioners.

The Writer's Collective

The Writer's Collective, a scriptwriting project, was initiated by the company in 2020, when they commissioned 12 first draft scripts, which were then mentored by theatre makers William Nicholson, Greg Homann and Paul Warwick-Griffin. Several eventually reached second and final draft stages and 2023 saw two of these plays produced by How Now Brown Cow.
