Biography
Born 24 July 1957
He trained at the University of Cape Town Drama School (1979-1980), beginning a career as actor as a member of the CAPAB Drama Company in the mid-1990s. He has also worked for PACOFS, the Baxter Theatre and The Space and has done TV and radio work.

His many theatre credits include Die Tou, To Kill a Mockingbird, Miss Margarida's Way (Baxter Theatre, 1981), A New Birth (1982), Tienuur Maak Die Deure Oop (as “Voorpraat”, PACOFS 1987), Elizabeth I (1988), Kinkels innie Kabel (1989), Die Park (1990), Dying Breed (CAPAB 1993), Jobias (1998), 'Buckingham Palace', District Six (2000-2001), Vatmaar (2003), Kanna hy kô Hystoe, Periandros van Korinthe and Green Man Flashing (inspector Abrahams of the SAPD), Die Van Aardes van Grootoor (KKNK 2004), Shirley, Goodness and Mercy (2007) (as Pa Nick, Oupa Frank and step-Oupa Theo Gallant), Cissie (2008), Bartho Smit’s Die Keiser (KKNK 2008), Die Krismis van Map Jacobs (2010),

He had a role in the radio drama Hashtag Hasepad broadcast on RSG in 2015.
His television work includes roles in Sexy Girls, Beelde, Vuurtoring, Zap-Zap, “Errol” in The Piano (one of the episodes in the Heartlines series), and he has appeared in the German feature film Of Love and Death.
André is one of the founder members and later vice-chairman of the Cape Heart Community and Educational Theatre Company
