Jobias is a play by Charles J. Fourie (1965-).

Subject

Based on the biblical story of Job and set in the Karoo, the character Jobias, a farm worker, loses all his possessions and his children. First performed in 1998, the text has not been published.

Performance history in South Africa

1998: Premièred in a production by the Agterdeur Geselskap at the KKNK in March, directed by Fourie, starring André Roothman as Jobias, Roysten Stoffels, Ivan Abrahams, André Samuels, Theresa Cloete, Chris Gxalaba, Johan Malherbe, Denver Vraagom. Stage manager Deon Erasmus, costumes by Stefan Venter, lighting by Patrick Curtis, photography by Albert van Niekerk and Lien Botha.

1998: The original production also staged in The Arena at the Nico Malan Theatre in May.
