Mncedisi Shabangu (1969-2022) was a South African actor and director.

Biography
Born Mncedisi Baldwin Shabangu.
After initial theatre work, he enrolled as a student at The Market Theatre Laboratory in 1995.
He passed away on 24 July 2022.
As actor
On stage
His first big role was in Gordon Motha's Secret Agenda in 1992.
His other theatre credits include Orpheus (1998), Ways of Dying (1999) and Call us Crazy (2000), for which he won an FNB Vita Award for Best actor in a supporting role. The Suitcase (2006), Dream of the Dog (Barney Simon Theatre, 2007).
He won a Fleur du Cap Award and a KKNK Award for best actor for Tshepang (2003-11) and Young Artist Award (Drama) in 2004.
Woza Albert! (2012), Asinamali (2013) at the Grahamstown Festival in Grahamstown, The Barney Simon theatre at the Market Theatre Directed by Prince Lamla.
Fishers of Hope (Taweret) (2014)
Woza Albert! in 2016: Produced by the Joburg Theatre, by arrangement with DALRO (Pty) Limited, in The Fringe at Joburg Theatre, with Mncedisi Shabangu and Hamilton Dhlamini.
With several accolades under his belt, Mncedisi Shabangu has wowed audiences at The Baxter for his performances in Tshepang, Fishers of Hope, The Inconvenience of Wings and Marat Sade and Blood Knot (2022, ). is a reunion between Shabangu and director Ngcobo, who collaborated on The Suitcase in 2006 and which won him a Naledi Award for best supporting actor. He co-created the smash hit play Gomorrah which opened at the Market Theatre before touring major cities in Sweden.
As director
Shabangu has also directed several productions at the Market Theatre including Wangesheya-Wangesheya, Kanyamazane Galvanomit Akusiti, The Barber Shop, Mooi Street Moves and Vuka Machel.
He directed Cold Stone Jug in 2004.
He was appointed Artistic Director for the Windybrow Theatre in 2006.
Television and film
Best known for his role as Skhumbuzo in the second season of the SABC3 drama series The Lab (2008).
Other television series he has acted in include The Other Woman and the SABC2 sitcom Home Sweet Home.
