Training
Studied at the University of Pretoria Drama Department.
Career
Joined PACT company and became an accomplished part of the Afrikaans ensemble.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Perhaps his most famous role is that of ‘Tjokkie” the seër in P.G. du Plessis’s Siener in die Suburbs (1971).

He starred in Francois Swart’s production of P.G. du Plessis’s 'n Seder val in Waterkloof for PACT in 1975 and in Schlengemann’s Die Drie Van Der Walts in 1979. He starred in an Afrikaans translation of the setwork piece The Merchant of Venice called Die Koopman van Venesië, directed by Louis van Niekerk, together with Rika Sennett in 1981.
Other productions include Ampie, Anastasia, Bobaas van die Boendoe, Christine, Ebenezer Pennieknyper, Die Eend, Germanicus, Die Heks, Hotel Paradiso, Jack and the Turtledoves, Die Keiser, Maria Stuart, Die Nag van Legio, Pavane, Plaston: DNS-Kind, Putsonderwater, After the Fall, Die Rebellie van Lafras Verwey, Beauty and the Beast, Die Dagboek van Anne Frank, Hamlet, Hedda Gabler, Die Terroriste, Lang Dagreis na die Nag, Die Jakkalsstreke van Scapino, Die Reënmaker, Rashomon, Drie Susters, Die Seemeeu, Taraboemdery, Die Verhoor, Die Verminktes, Moleste met die Magistraat.
He co-translated, with Aart de Villiers, Alkestis, as well as Blithe Spirit into Afrikaans entitled Die Vryerige Spook. He also co-translated Scrooge as Ebenezer Pennieknyper.
He became one of the first actors to really make money out of television advertising. Withdrew from public performance in 19** and devoted himself to radio work (??**)
