Des and Dawn Lindberg formed this “club” to circumvent the government's multi-racial regulations. Their performances where private, and each person who bought a ticket to their shows, regardless of race, automatically become a member of SALT, enabling them to attend. This was created because of their problems in staging Godspell in 1974, and the technique, based on similar strategies by radical theatre companies, such as the Space Theatre, was now utilised for their production of The Black Mikado in 1976 and the revival of Godspell in 197*
