The Rishile Gumboot Dancers of Soweto is a dance and singing company

The company

Founded as "Rishile Gumboot Dancers of Soweto" in 1990 by singer, dancer and guitarist Vincent "Viva" Ncabashe, the company became am international success, notably for its part in the creation and performance of the international hit Gumboots. (Also referred to simply as the Rishile Gumboot Dancers in some sources.)

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Vincent and the company were co-creators of and performers in the musical show Gumboots (Market Theatre, 2002) with Zenzi Mbuli and Wayne Harrison.
