History

Constructed in an abandoned mill against the slopes of Paarl Mountain, it was opened in 1971 to serve as a home base and venue for the newly revived Paarl Theatre Club, and soon became an iconic community theatre, producing a variety of entertainment in both Afrikaans and English.

Management

The Paarl Theatre Club was responsible for the direct management and marketing of productions offered from 1971 up till 200*, when the theatre became a private enterprise, a rentable performance venue for for the use of amateur, professional and semi-professional companies.

The spelling of the theatre's name was also changed to Oumeulteater on their website.
