Marie Pentz (19**-) South African actress.

Biography

She studied drama for three years at the University of Stellenbosch under Professor Fred Engelen.


Career

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

On stage she played the lead in Agt Vroue, Livia in Germanicus. Other productions include Juffrou Edelwater, Scapino and Villa for Sale. She played Rheta Martinelli in Wie is die Moordenaar? (mid-1960s) and Elisabet Roos in Die Ryk Weduwee (CAPAB 1974). Some of her many other stage appearances were in Ampie, Bart Nel, Cyrano de Bergerac, Die Dansende Donkie, Die Huweliksbedrog, Die Laaste Sondag, Maria Stuart, Die Nag van Legio, Ek Onthou vir Mamma, Die Selfmoordenaar, Pase, Die Patatta and Yerma.

She appeared in numerous television series and films over a long career and is possibly best known for her roles as Mietie in the SABC2 series Koöperasie Stories (1983) and as Vera in the e.tv sitcom Fishy Feshuns (1999).

Other TV series include Ballade Vir 'n Enkeling, Die Vierde Kabinet; Erfsondes; Kompleks; The Coconuts.

Films include Beloftes van Môre (1981); Tawwe Tienies, (1984); Bosveldhotel, die moevie (1985); Liewe Hemel, Genis! (1986); Footskating 101 (2007); Hoofmeisie (2011), Lien se lankstaanskoene (2013).
