Marcel Meyer (198*-). Actor, playwright, director, designer.

Training

He studied at Pro Arte School, Pretoria and completed a B Tech degree at the Technikon Pretoria in 2002.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Marcel is the co-writer (with Fred Abrahamse) of two musicals: Bangbroek Mountain - The Musical About Camping and In Briefs - A Queer Little Musical. He performed in a production of the former in 2006.

He has performed in Much Ado about Nothing (Maynardville 2005), Hamlet 2005 (as (Rosencrantz) and as Hamlet 2015 in Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, as Romeo in Shakespeare's R&J (NAF 2011), The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore (2013), Cardenio (Maynardville 2013), Desire under the Elms (2014).

He designed costumes and performed in Othello (Maynardville 2016), The Tragedy of Richard III (2010), Kingdom of Earth (2012, 2014).

He designed for productions of Seashells (2010), Just Business (2012), A Midsummer Night's Dream (2012) and Buitepos (2012).

Educational theatre projects include Macbeth (Pitt Productions, 200*) and Julius Caesar (Pitt Productions, 200*).

He also performed in Remembering the Future (Reminiscence Theatre project for the Bashoto Village Project, directed by Marthinus Basson), touring England and Belgium.

Awards, etc.

At the Fleur du Cap Award ceremony in March 2012, he won Best Costume Design for The Tragedy of Richard III.
