Lorraine Young
Lorraine Young (1961) is an English born actress who acted and produced stage productions after immigrating to Port Elizabeth in 1965.

Biography
Lorraine Young was born in Gloucester, England to award-winning theatrical parents Thomas Young and Jean Young. Not long after immigrating to Port Elizabeth, Jean Young joined the Western Players an acting group who operated near to their home in Linton Grange. Lorraine fell in love with acting and continued to be involved in amateur dramatics in Port Elizabeth until 1992 when she and her husband, Lionel Kapp, moved their young family first to Mossel Bay and then to George before finally immigrating back to England in 2000. Lorraine Kapp now works in Mental Health and is currently writing a novel about how this daunting subject affected women in Victorian England.

1969: The entire Young family appeared on stage in the Western Players production of Pools Paradise for the first time.
1970: Lorraine took part alongside her mother in 1820 Settlers Pageant.
1972: Played the role of Jessie in Annie Get Your Gun.
1973: Starred in Happiest Days of Your Life with the North Durban Players.
1973: Lorraine entered the Herald On The Go Show and was awarded the Frank Rogaly Trophy for the "most promising act'.
1974: Entered the Salters One Act Play Festival with PEMADS' production of Electra, directed by Ann Siopis.
1974: Played the role of the Young Queen in the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival Young 'uns production of The Lark.
1975: Played the role of Pippa in the PEMADS production of Spider's Web.
1976: Was part of the chorus during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival's production of The Taming of the Shrew.
1976: Portrayed Ismene for the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival Young 'uns production of Antigone.
1977: Portrayed Ophelia for the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival Young 'uns production of Hamlet.
1977: Directed The Grey Angel for the Holy Rosary Convent's entry in the Inter-Schools Play Festival.
1977: Produced a play for Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival Young 'uns experimental theatre course at the Port Elizabeth Opera House.
1977: Acted the role of Mrs Webb during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival Young 'uns production of Our Town.
1978: Worked backstage as the assistant to the producer and prompt during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival production of Othello.
1980: Portrayed Ruth during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival's Grahamstown Tour of The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds.
1981: Played Maria during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival production of Twelfth Night.
1982: Co-produced the production of the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival's The Collector with Bruce Sanderson.
1982: Played Hermia during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
1983: Acted in the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival production of A Voyage Round My Father, produced for the opening of the new Port Elizabeth City Hall.
1983: Played Celia during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival production of As You Like It.
1983: Played Louise during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival production of Shrivings.
1984: Played Miranda during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival production of The Tempest.
1984: Played Polly during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival production of The Gingerbread Lady.
1985: Played Cordelia during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival production of King Lear.
1986: Played Corie in the PEMADS's production of Barefoot in the Park.
1987: Played the Young Queen during the Port Elizabeth Shakespearean Festival Graaff-Reinet Tour of Richard III.
1992: Was part of the chorus in Robin Williams' production of Behold the Man for the Emmanuel Church.

1973: Lorraine was awarded the Frank Rogaly Trophy for the "most promising act" during the Herald On The Go Show.
1977: Lorraine was awarded the "Best Play" category for The Grey Angel which she directed for the Holy Rosary Convent's entry in the annual Inter-Schools Play Festival.
