Career
PACT from January 1982. Since 1985 she directs schools programmes for PACT. Since 1992 Associate Director at PACT, resigned a year later although she still did ad hoc work for PACT.

At the beginning of 2000, she accepted a fulltime position on the production team of the popular television soap opera Isidingo – The Need (SABC) and in 2002 she was appointed in the senior position of creative producer of the programme.

As actress van Hemert has appeared in Hard Times, Antjie Somers and I, Callaway Farce and Die Wonderwerk.
Other theatre work includes 36 performances of an Industrial Theatre Production in Ghana.
