A play by Serbian-American screenwriter, playwright and novelist Steve Tesich (1992). It is a post-apocalyptic tale concerning the events after a "civil war" within the United States. Characters drag wheeled carts filled with meager possessions through a destroyed American wasteland. [1]

Performance history in South Africa

Staged in the Civic Theatre, directed by Ilse van Hemert, with Marius Weyers, Dawid Minnaar, Emma-Jane Mezher and Sean Michael in March 1994.

Staged at the Grahamstown Festival 1994, directed by Ilse van Hemert, with Marius Weyers, Dawid Minnaar and Colleen Nicklin.

This production was also staged in the V & A Theatre in the Cape Town Waterfront with the cast including Ian Duncan as the Hangman.
