(a) an original Afrikaans radio serial by Willie van Rensburg or (b) a film by Manie van Rensburg, based on the radio text.

The film

The construction of a dam threatens the valley where Pinkie Conradie and her father live. Jorrie Lourens is determined to complete the job at any cost, until an unforeseen tragedy takes place.

The script was an adaption of the radio serial, written by the original author Willie van Rensburg.

Produced by Ben Vlok for Kavalier Films and directed by Manie van Rensburg, with Nic de Jager, Estelle Zeeman, George Ballot, Jan Bruijns, Tromp Terre'Blanche, Dulcie van den Bergh, Fanie Bekker, Schalk Jacobsz and Colin Ward. Music by Eric Smith, cinematography by John Brown, set decoration by Trudie Taljaardt, production management by Colin Ward, sound by Johan van de Vyver and team, and editing by Coyla Charnock, Dave Emary and Clive Reynolds. The film was released nationally by Kinekor in 1974, with its premiére being held in the Premiére Theatre, Jeppe Street, Johannesburg on 4 July.
