Emgee Pretorius (1924-2007) [https://af.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emgee_Pretorius ]. Afrikaans actor.

He died on 1 May 2007 at the age of 83.

Career

He started his acting career with the Gwen ffrangçon-Davies / Marda Vanne Company in 1946, toured with André Huguenet and the NTO and also appeared in films and on television.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He made is debut on stage in The Merry Wives of Windsor, toured with By die ou Meulstroom and played Osric in the Afrikaans Hamlet. He was alternate for the part of Eric in An Inspector Calls. He subsequently translated the latter play into Afrikaans and played the part of the inspector in a JAATS production in December 1958.

Other productions include Altyd My Liefste (1948), Die Indringer (1949), Nag het die Wind Gebring, Minnaar onder die Wapen, Hassan (1950), Die Vrek (1951), As Ons Twee Eers Getroud Is (1952).

Television appearances include roles in Vyfster, Nommer Asseblief, Koöperasiestories, Dryfsand, A Jury of Her Peers and he had roles in the films Die Wildsboudjie, Nag van die 19de and Stander.

Awards, etc

He was nominate for an Artes Award as best actor in Koöperasiestories.
