Biography
Training
David Classen studied Audio Engineering at Cape Audio College.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He has worked locally and internationally as a Sound Systems Technician for the last 8 years. His credits include Fugard Theatre productions such as West Side Story, Funny Girl and King Kong - the Musical, as well as various arts festivals such as Woordfees and the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees, and music festival Rocking the Daisies.
David was the Associate Sound Designer on The Fugard Theatre’s The Rocky Horror Show, which won a Naledi Theatre Award for Best Sound Design. He also co-designed the sound for The Fugard Theatre’s production of David Kramer’s District Six – Kanala, alongside Aki Khan. David designed the sound for The Fugard Theatre’s Shakespeare in Love and Langarm (2018).
