Biography
Alan Williams was married to actress and director, Robin Emslie. Their sons Gareth Hewitt Williams and Rhys Hewitt Williams both work in the entertainment industry.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
1957: Alan Williams appeared in the chorus of the 1957 Pantomime, The Sleeping Beauty.
He appeared in revues and musicals.
1960: Mrs Willie
Acted in The Glass Menagerie,
The Caine Mutiny Court Martial,
Macbeth (Duncan) at the Port Elizabeth Opera House (April 2004).
1967: Acted in Eureka!.
1972: Directed The Diary of Anne Frank.
1975: Portrayed King Arthur in the Port Elizabeth Gilbert and Sullivan Society's production of Camelot.
1979: Lead role in PEMADS production of The King and I.
1980: Acted in the lead role in Ira Levin's Death Trap, produced for the opening of the re-built Ford Little Theatre.
1984: Alan Williams played Baron von Trapp in the Port Elizabeth Gilbert and Sullivan Society's production of The Sound of Music.
January 1986: Portrayed Oliver Warbucks in Annie during the re-opening of the Port Elizabeth Opera House.
Awards
1972: Best Director and Best Actor awards during the Salters One Act Play Festival.
1979: Best Actor for his lead role in PEMADS production of The King and I.
