The Male Animal, a comedy written by American cartoonist, author, journalist, playwright, and celebrated wit James Thurber (1894-1961) in collaboration with his college friend, Elliot Nugent. The play was staged on Broadway and later adapted into the film starring Henry Fonda and Olivia de Havilland.

Performance history in South Africa

Directed by John McKelvey for the Cockpit Players at the Hofmeyr Hall, October 1958, starring Joan Blake, Leon Gluckman and John McKelvey. Decor by Bruce Palmer.
