KOTZÉ, Sandra. (194*-) Actress, director and television producer.

Biography

She is married to actor Cobus Rossouw. Their daughters Susan Rossouw and Wilmien Rossouw are also an actresses. Their son, Cobus Rossouw jr., is the director of televison productions such as Kruispad and Getroud met Rugby.

Between 198* and 199* she was Head of Afrikaans Television Drama?* at the SABC.

On stage she has appeared in Agt Vroue (1965), Cape Charade or Kaatje Kekkelbek (1968), Tartuffe (1968), Die Idioot (1969), Cyrano de Bergerac (1969), Moeder Hanna (1970), Richard III (1968/9), Ouers-Vra (1970), Uncle Vanya (several productions), Hond se Gedagte (1971), Die Selfmoordenaar (1973), Makiet in Kanna hy kô Hystoe (1974), Die Wind in die Takke van Sassafras (1974), Arme Moordenaar (1974), Drie Susters (1976), Twaalfde Nag (1975 and 1981), Die Droomkotiljons (1983), A Lesson from Aloes (1983).

She directed Die Ryk Weduwee (1974), Boeing-Boeing (1979), Happy Birthday (1980), Along Came a Spider (1980), Kinkels innie Kabel (1981), Die Tragedie van Romeo en Juliet (1981), Die Goue Kring (1982), As die Turksvy Blom (1983), Hond se Gedagte (1981 and 1988), Op Dees Aarde (1987) and co-directed Mamma Medea (2002).

She translated The Crucible into Afrikaans as Die Hekse van Salem as well as Die Hemelbed.

Designed costumes for Op Dees Aarde, Arme Moordenaar, Along Came a Spider.

She played in the films Die Wonderwerker and Faan se Trein,(released January 2014).

She adapted Elsa Joubert's novel Die Swerfjare van Poppie Nongena for the stage with the co-operation of the author and eventually translated the play into English. In 1979 she directed a production of the play in Afrikaans for KRUIK.

Awards, etc

She and her husband, Cobus Rossouw, were awarded medals of honour for their contribution to Theatre by the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns in 2014.
