1977: Danny Keogh starred in The Company’s presentation of Barney Simon’s revival of People are Living There with Wilson Dunster, Vanessa Cooke and Yvonne Bryceland at The Market Theatre in 1977.

2015: The Market Theatre and the Windybrow Theatre by arrangement with DALRO (Pty) Limited presented the play in the Barney Simon Theatrefrom 22 April to 24 May. Directed by André Odendaal with Anna-Mart van der Merwe (Milly), Carel Nel, Dania Gelderblom, and Francois Jacobs.

Translations and adaptations

Afrikaans translation by Marko van der Colff: Daar Leef Mense Daar, produced by CAPAB, opening on 20 August 1982 at the Nico Malan Theatre with subsequent performances at the H.B. Thom Theatre, the Monument Theatre in Grahamstown and the Savoy Theatre in Port Elizabeth in September 1982. Athol Fugard directed, assisted by Rozelle Vogelman. Decor and costumes by Penny Simpson, lighting by Malcolm Hurrell. The cast: Lida Meiring (Milly), David van der Merwe (Shorty), Marthinus Basson (Don) and Lisa-Maria Fugard (Sissy).
