The Johannesburgse Afrikaanse Amateur Toneelspelers is an Afrikaans amateur theatre group in Johannesburg,

It is best known by the acronym JAATS (or J.A.A.T.S.).

The society evolved out of Schalk Theron’s Sonop Afrikaner Kring.

Some performances

On the 15th of December, 1949, they participated in the Inauguration of the Voortrekker Monument Pretoria, December 13 to 16, 1949, with a tableau scene called 'n Voortrekker Troue ("A Voortrekker Marriage") by Adèle Jooste.

Other plays included Die Laaste van die Takhare (Langenhoven), Bitter Einde (Weber)

Highlights of 1956 included the premiere of the poet and playwright Uys Krige’s Die Goue Kring for their Festival production at the Library Theatre and the first performance of Bartho Smit's Moeder Hanna, directed by Aletta Gericke with Milla Louw ('Moeder Hanna"), Marie Tredoux ("Marie"), Billy Pretorius ("Bart Harmse"), Dawid van der Walt ("Ouboeta") and Floris Mosterd ("Oupa Harmse").
