Born in Nababeep, Namaqualand, matriculated in Cape Town, B.Sc. degree from the University of Pretoria.

He has appeared on stage in productions of Lappies die Lappiesmous (as the cobbler Levitikus PACT Playwork, 1979). Die Verhoor (André P. Brink) (Johannes Londt, PACT 1980), Twaalfde Nag (Valentino, PACT 1981), Plaston: DNS-Kind (Plaston in a PACOFS production 1981 by arrangement with PACT), Die Goue Kring (PACOFS 1982), Robin van der Merwe of Knysna Forest (1984), Die Potlooddief en die Engel (Tonie PACT 1985), The Time of the Hyena (Hannes Botha PACT 1986), Harold en Maude (SWARUK 1986), Soldate Vryers (SWARUK, 1987), Panorama (Grahamstown Festival, 1987), Kyk Hoe Hol Hulle (PACT 1987) and Die Hertekoning (PACT as Deramo).

He had a role in the radio play Pendoring & Seun 1994; Die Laaste van die Takhare broadcast on radio in the 1980s, repeated on RSG in 2013.
He was one of the leading actors in the television series, Samaritaan (1998) and played the name role in Andries Plak in 2007.
