Die Asjaspassie

Afrikaans translation of Mistero Buffo by Dario Fo (1968), translated by Herman Pretorius, assisted by Romy Boom, in 1987.

Staged by Universiteitsteater Stellenbosch in 1987, directed by Ben Dehaeck starring Duncan Johnson, Illse Roos, Farouk Valley-Omar, Perlé van Schalkwyk and others.

Performed by Chris Truter at a mini-festival linked to a Theatre Action Group (Cape Town) seminar in 1991. Premièred Staged by the Kasteel Spelers, directed by Chris Truter, in April 1993 and toured around the Western Cape.

Staged by the amateur wing of the Klein Libertas Teater (KLT) in June 2003, directed by Juanita Swanepoel, with Elizabeth de Villiers, Petrus du Preez, Elize Meiring, Mareli Hattingh, Stephanie Badenhorst, Peter Viljoen, Pieter Retief and others, with music by Thomas Channell.

A Cape vernacular adaptation of Die Asjaspassie, called Stoutgatpassie premièred at the Suidoosterfees in January 2006, directed by Sandra Temmingh, with Oscar Petersen, David Isaacs, Bronwyn van Graan and Mbulelo Grootboom. The production then staged at the KKNK 2006 and subsequently had a run in the Baxter Theatre in September/October 2006.
