Johnny Belinda is a play by American author, dramatist, and playwright Elmer Harris [1].

First performed on Broadway in 1940.

The play was adapted for the screen by writers Allen Vincent and Irma von Cube, and directed by Jean Negulesco in 1948.

Performance history in South Africa

1954: Presented by the Brian Brooke Company in 1954 starring Zoë Randall and Brian Brooke, Hofmeyr Theatre, Cape Town.

1956: Presented by the Uitenhage Congregational Players, directed by W.E. Teare, 1956.

1981: Presented by the Arts Theatre Club at the Guild Theatre, directed by Dennis Versfeld.
