Rats: A Play for Two Rats and a Baby (or simply Rats) is a play by Israel Horovitz (1939-)[1] .

The original text

Description The story is about two rats. One has control over a rich hunting ground in New York City and the other has come down from Greenwich, Connecticut, looking for an in. The power rat is reluctant to let anybody into his domain but his visitor is convincing and talks his way in, until an infant child makes his appearance. Then the country rat wants his bite, the city rat is revealed as kindhearted and they fight over the screaming baby.

Published under its full title, Rats: A Play for Two Rats and a Baby, as Issue 3572 of the CU off-site play collection by Dramatists Play Service, 1968.

1974: Performed as Rats for Space Theatre club members in the Outer Space (Cape Town), directed by Charlotte du Toit with Bill Curry, Totti Ebrahim and Vincent Ebrahim.
