Bell, Book and Candle is a comedy by John van Druten (1901–1957)[1].


The original text

An amusing and popular comedy on witchcraft, which opened on Broadway in 1950, directed by the author, and ran for 233 performances. Published by the Dramatists Play Service in 1951. Filmed by Columbia Pictures in 1958.

Performance history in South Africa

1956: Produced by National Theatre Organisation in 1956, starring Margaret Inglis, John Hussey, Zoë Randall, Frank Wise and Robert Lang. Inglis and Hussey directed and the technical support was by Timothy Heale and Margaret Marshall.

1961: Presented by the Little Theatre Players at the Little Theatre, Cape Town, in July, directed by Bill Smuts.
