Richard Cook

Richard Cook. (19**) [1] Designer.

Biography

Richard was born in Cape Town. He moved to Vancouver, Canada in the late 1970s.

Training

He studied Art at the University of Cape Town.

Career

He was appointed scenic artist to CAPAB, after which he worked for PACT as resident designer from 1972 to 1975, working very closely with costume designer Christa Scholtz. After his move to Canada he continued to work in Theatre, but turned his focus to Film & TV as the industry grew in Vancouver.

For PACT he designed sets for A Winter Vacation (1970), Lang Dagreis na die Nag (1970), Hotel Paradiso (1971), The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-moon Marigolds (1971), Siener in die Suburbs (1971), Die Seemeeu (1972), Maria Stuart (1972), Marching Song (1972), Ampie Oppie Diekens (1972), The Maids (1972), Hay Fever (1972), Toiings (1973), Tartuffe (1973), Children of the Wolf (1973), Babbelkous en Bruidegom (1973), Die Weerstaanbare Opkoms van Arturo Ui (1973), Elizabeth I (1974), Theodora 1974), Dubbelspel met die Dood (1974), Plaston: DNS-Kind (1974), The Happiness Cage (1974), Troilus and Cressida (1974), The Story of an African Farm (1975), The Tempest (1975), A Streetcar Named Desire (1975), The Crucible (1975), Die Vrek (1976), Hond se Gedagte (1981).

He designed sets for Taraboemdery (1976) for a SWAPAC production.
