Aimer ("To love") is a play by the French playwright Paul Géraldy (1885-1983)[1]

The original text
Written in 1921, first performed in the same year by the Comédie-Française, Paris on 5 December. Published in Paris by Stock, Delamain, Boutelleau et Cie, 1922.
Translations and adaptations
Translated into English as To Love, first produced in Bijou Theater, New York in 1922.
Translated from the French into Afrikaans by N.P. van Wyk Louw in 1939 (published by Nasionale Pers, 1939) with the title Hélène. This translation was performed several times by theatre companies. (The title sometimes wrongly written as Hèléne or Héléne.)
In 1958 the title of the translation was changed to Tussen Twee Liefdes ("Between two loves") by the director Leonard Schach.
Performance history in South Africa
1940: Performed in Afrikaans as Hélène by K.A.T. in the Little Theatre in 1940, directed by W.J.B. Pienaar.
1958: Produced in Afrikaans by the National Theatre Organisation with the title Tussen Twee Liefdes. Directed by Leonard Schach, with Babs Laker, Johann Nell and Pietro Nolte. Decor by Frank Graves and costumes by Doreen Graves. The production opened in the Hofmeyr Theatre on 5 August before going on tour.
