A play about August Strindberg [1], by British playwright Michael Leverson Meyer (1921-2000) [2]. The play received a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 1978.

Performance history in South Africa

It was the first play produced by Volute Productions and also the first South African performance of the play, opening 15 February 1982 at the People's Space. Directed by Maralin Vanrenen, designed by Bruno Santini, with Michael O'Brien, Mary Dreyer, Neville Thomas, Andrea Fine, Frantz Dobrowsky and Maria Schoeman. Costumes co-ordinated by Birrie le Roux, lighting designed by Andrew Todd. Music specially composed and arranged for this play by Marilyn Taylor. The author came to South Africa to see this production of his play.

Presented by PACOFS at the Observatory Theatre, Bloemfontein, directed by Pieter Brand, 9-16 October 1982, starring André Retief and Karin Retief.
